Achieving mainstream success within the music industry is seldom a linear progression. For most bands, it's an uncertain route characterized by countless hours of rehearsal, relentless performances, and the inherent stresses of self-promotion. The Funeral Portrait, on the other hand, has embraced the chaotic and exhausting demands of touring and recording. Their latest achievement of charting on Billboard marks a win not just for the band, but for the entire local music scene that has witnessed their ascent.
To outsiders, The Funeral Portrait may appear to be an "overnight" phenomenon. Yet, behind the streaming metrics and radio airplay lies strategy and hard work years in the making. Many musicians within the local scene understand this dual existence: the daily grind of building a sustainable entertainment career while also juggling various day jobs. It's a balancing act, demanding grit and an uncompromising conviction in one's artistry.
A career within music is notoriously unpredictable, and many talented artists never reach their desired success due to the limitations of reality. Bands and artists pour their passion into their music, only to later step back due to circumstances that require them to postpone or abandon their aspirations altogether. Even those who endure these fluctuations must face the unfortunate likelihood that mainstream recognition remains elusive for the majority. This is why The Funeral Portrait achieving 1 million followers on Spotify is a significant milestone; it serves as a beacon of hope for the entire local scene community, where authenticity is valued.
This spring, The Funeral Portrait will join The Used's 25 Year Anniversary Tour on specific dates. This opportunity broadens their exposure to a wider audience. The story of The Funeral Portrait is a testament that taking risks is worthwhile and that dreams can still be achieved.
BREAKING NEWS: The Funeral Portrait Announces
"A Hex On The Nation Tour"
The Funeral Portrait surprised fans on March 28th with another announcement; a new tour with The Rasmus and Archers, mostly hitting the East Coast and Midwest this April and May. Joining the band is Glasswaves, a New York metalcore band making serious noise in their own right. They blend heavy, intense riffs with electronic and modern twists, garnering the attention of over 46,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
Over the years, the band has amassed more than 2 million streams of their catalog, and now you can experience it live.

"A Hex On The Nation" begins April 18th in Virginia Beach, VA, and ends in Des Moines, Iowa. You can expect high energy for every show. Owen Miller of Glasswaves shared his excitement with The Scene Network, exclaiming:
"We’ve played shows with them in the past when we were both significantly smaller bands and watching them just explode into this huge band that people love has been incredible, to say the least. This run together is going to be an absolute blast and I can’t wait to watch them continue to grow."
Glasswaves is also close to other local bands that The Scene Network has covered, including Surefire from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These bands are part of a growing scene keeping metalcore alive and well with each new generation of listeners.
Hell yeah
I'm so excited for the tour!
